Straight answers about how CleanGig works. If what you need isn't here, our support team can help in English or Mandarin.
General
- What is CleanGig?CleanGig is an online marketplace connecting people in Adelaide with independent, verified cleaners. CleanGig is not a cleaning agency and does not employ cleaners: each cleaner runs their own business, sets their own prices and chooses their own jobs. CleanGig handles matching, messaging, payment and verification.
- Where does CleanGig operate?CleanGig currently covers Greater Adelaide, South Australia — postcodes 5000 to 5200. We plan to expand to other Australian cities later. If your postcode is outside this range you cannot post a job yet.
- Which languages does CleanGig support? The site is in Australian English. Our support chat can answer in any language, including Mandarin Chinese, and our support team includes a Mandarin speaker for anything that needs a human.
Payments
- What does it cost to book a cleaner?Posting a job and receiving offers is free. When you accept an offer you pay the cleaner's price plus a CleanGig service fee: A$5 on each of your first three bookings, and A$7 after that. There is no booking fee and no subscription. CleanGig is not registered for GST, so no GST is added.
- What commission does CleanGig charge cleaners?Cleaners keep 100% of their first three completed jobs. From the fourth completed job onwards CleanGig deducts 10% of the job value — so on a $100 job you receive $90. Price your packages with that in mind. There are no lead fees, no charge to apply for a job and no subscription.
- When does the cleaner get paid? The client pays when they accept an offer, and CleanGig holds the money. It is released to the cleaner's bank account after the job is marked complete. This protects the client from paying for work that was not done, and the cleaner from doing work that is not paid for.
Bookings
- What is the cancellation policy?Cancelling more than 24 hours before the scheduled start refunds the client in full, including the service fee. The same applies at any time if no cleaner has been assigned, or if the assigned cleaner does not attend. Cancelling within 24 hours refunds the client 50%; of the remainder, 45% goes to the cleaner as compensation for the reserved time and 5% is retained by CleanGig.
- Who supplies the cleaning products and equipment? The cleaner does. Every cleaner on CleanGig brings their own vacuum, mop, cloths and standard cleaning products, and that cost is already included in the price they quote you. If you want specific products used — a particular brand, an eco-certified range, or something for an allergy — you supply those, or choose a cleaner whose package lists green cleaning as part of what they offer.
- Do cleaners take before and after photos?Yes. Cleaners upload before and after photos for each job. They give the client a record of the work, are useful evidence for an end of lease inspection, and settle disputes quickly if one arises.
Cleaners
- What do I need to work as a cleaner on CleanGig?You need an Australian Business Number (ABN), a National Police Certificate issued within the last 12 months, public liability insurance of at least A$5 million, a clear solo photo of your face for your profile, and proof of identity and address. A CleanGig staff member checks every document by hand, usually within 24 hours.
- What are the profile photo rules?Your profile photo must be a clear photo of your own face, taken alone, with no sunglasses, hats or other accessories. Religious head coverings are welcome and never a reason for rejection. Logos, group photos and images that are not of you will be rejected.
Policy
- Can I pay or be paid outside the app?No. All payments must go through CleanGig. Work arranged or paid off-platform has no insurance cover, no payment protection and cannot be reviewed. Cleaners who request off-platform payment have their account suspended and may be removed permanently; clients who encourage it may also be suspended. Extras such as oven or carpet cleaning can be added to the job inside the app at any time.
- Why was my message blocked?Messages containing phone numbers, email addresses, messaging app handles or external links are blocked automatically. Everything needed to arrange a job — dates, access details, extras and payment — can be done inside CleanGig. Repeated attempts to share contact details result in a formal warning and then suspension.
