Privacy policy

Draft — last updated 2026

1. Who we are

CleanGig operates a marketplace connecting people in South Australia with independent cleaning contractors. This policy explains what personal information we handle and why. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

2. What we collect

From everyone: your name, email address, and the suburb and postcode you use the service in.

From clients: the address where the work happens, job details, any photos you upload, messages you send through the platform, and payment details handled by our payment provider.

From cleaners: the above, plus your ABN, your National Police Certificate, your public liability insurance certificate, proof of identity and address, and a profile photo. We collect these because we tell clients every cleaner is checked, and that claim has to be true.

3. Why we collect it

To match jobs with cleaners, to process payments, to verify that cleaners meet the requirements we advertise, to resolve disputes, and to meet our legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your data to train AI models.

4. Who we share it with

Between users: when a cleaner applies for your job, they see the job details and suburb. The full street address is shared only once you accept their offer.

Service providers we rely on: Clerk (accounts and sign-in), Supabase (database and document storage), Stripe (payments), Resend (email) and Vercel (hosting). Each handles data only to provide their service to us.

Verification documents are never shown to other users. A cleaner's profile displays that they are verified, never the documents themselves.

5. Where it is stored

Our database and file storage are hosted with Supabase, and the site runs on Vercel. Some of these providers process data outside Australia. By using CleanGig you consent to that transfer.

6. How long we keep it

Account and job records are kept while your account is open and for seven years afterwards, which is the period Australian tax and business records must be retained. Verification documents are kept while a cleaner is active on the platform and deleted within 12 months of the account closing, unless they relate to an unresolved dispute or insurance claim.

7. Messages and monitoring

Messages sent through CleanGig are stored and automatically screened for contact details and off-platform payment attempts. Messages blocked by that screening are retained as evidence if a warning or suspension follows. Support staff can read conversations when investigating a report or a dispute.

8. Accessing and correcting your information

You can view and update most of your information in your account. To request a copy of everything we hold about you, to correct something, or to ask us to delete your account, contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how we handled a privacy issue, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

9. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies necessary for signing in and keeping you signed in, and analytics to understand which pages people use. Analytics data is aggregated and is not used to identify you individually.
